Requirements for ferrous metal scrap

Ferrous metal scrap must not contain:
  • non-metallic objects (soil, sand, rubber, concrete, bricks, wood, ceramics, glass, etc.);
  • munitions;
  • closed containers without holes;
  • closed containers under pressure; assemblies containing oil and other substances;
  • scrap covered with concrete and cement;
  • containers with adhesive, oil, paint, etc.
The scrap metal must be suitable for safe handling, processing and melting; it must not contain any flammable, explosive or radioactive substances.

Scrap metal obtained from chemical plants must be cleaned of any chemical substances.

Closed containers must be opened, cut and cleaned to ensure they contain no other substances.

Requirements for non-ferrous metal scrap

Non-ferrous metal scrap must not contain:
  • non-metallic objects (soil, sand, rubber, concrete, bricks, wood, ceramics, glass, etc.);
  • closed containers under pressure.
